Boo Frog is a psychedelic swamp band from Portland, Oregon featuring Chris Newman and Erika Meyer on guitar and vocals, and Doug Naish on drums. Erika former bandleader of Serpentone, and Chris, former bandleader of Napalm Beach, got together with drummer Paul Vega to form an original band after performing a one-time Cramps / Lux Interior tribute in 2009. Doug, an original member of Portland's Crackerbash, and baby brother to Wipers drummer Brad Naish, joined the band in 2013.

Initially formed as part of a one-off tribute to the Cramps, local quartet Boo Frog has developed its own repertoire of grungy rock and roll. From co-frontman Chris Newman with his storied history in Northwest music all the way to the group's barely-of-drinking-age organist, the mix of generations makes for an interesting lineup that harks back to an era long gone. Along with Dead Moon’s Fred Cole and the Wipers’ Greg Sage, Newman helped create the Portland punk offshoot that prefaced the ‘90s movement we all know as “grunge.” But those days were long ago, and since then Newman’s been through the mill, even spending a few years in Tarp Town, San Francisco. Meanwhile, his music has only gotten better. CHRIS CANTINO Portland Mercury September 2011
Boo Frog eschews song- writing convention and puts its songs first. With members who’ve shared the stage with every punk band that mattered from Portland’s 1980s music scene—co-founder Chris Newman is perhaps better known for his work in Napalm Beach — Boo Frog knows the music is all that matters. JOHN ISAACSON Willamette Week September 2011
The music is raw and timeless, psychedelic and trippy: all fuzzed guitars and mean gruff male vocals and Dead Moon-flecked female... Boo Frog clearly understand the way silence and the space between the silences can unsettle. EVERETT TRUE Collapse Board: Song of the Day July 2010
